AVOID THE REINJURY TRAP
AVOID THE REINJURY TRAP
The greatest predictor of future injury is previous injury
Welcome to our latest episode of 2-Rep Tuesday, where we bring an insight (Rep #1) and a question (Rep #2) from the world of high-performance to get your wheels turning.
🎯 Insight

Availability is the greatest predictor of winning in elite sport. Top talent must be available to win. (See our last episode: The Greatest Ability is Availability).
A second important, but lesser known, fact is this: Previous injury is the greatest predictor of future injury. In fact, previous injury is associated with up to a 4-fold increase in re-injury, especially in the first 12-18 months. We all know that time loss injuries are expensive, in terms of wins, medical costs, and the mental and emotional impact on the athlete.
Understanding every athlete’s injury history and overall risk status is no longer a “nice-to-know” but a “need-to-know”. Comprehensive health and performance assessments that screen top predictors of injury risk and assess sport-specific qualities and capacities must be part of every athlete’s onboarding, and part of every return-to-performance decision matrix.
🎯 Question
Are modern methods and elite expertise in place to assess, profile, and manage risk with your athletes?
